For months I have been procrastinating. You know when the Lord is inviting you to do something, but it feels intimidating? So instead of stepping into it, you keep putting it off and filling your time with tasks that feel more pressing?
What the Lord has been speaking to me about for months is to run a course on healing the sick based on my book, Agents of Healing. One night last week, I woke up at around 3am. Ironically, I woke up because I was in pain—sick with flu-like symptoms. Since I couldn’t sleep, I went to the room my wife uses as an office, looked out the window, and began interceding for some people who were on my heart.
During my prayer time, I told the Lord, “Lord, if you want me to teach that course on healing, I need a sign. How can I even think about teaching it when I still struggle with sickness myself?”
At the time, Shaheen, someone we knew, was sick. The sign I asked for was this: “If I pray for her and she recovers, I’ll take it as your sign that you want me to teach this course.” That morning, I had the opportunity to pray for Shaheen. After I prayed, I asked her how she felt. She felt good. The next day I saw her again, and she was fine.
About the course
So, here is what I have in mind for the course:
- Frequency: 60-90 minutes, one day per week taught online
- Duration: 6 weeks
- Timing: Tuesday OR Saturday mornings at 9:30am Eastern Daylight Time
- Start date: First week of July
- Cost: Probably $150 (but if you want to take this course and don’t have the money, a special arrangement can be made)
What this course is not
This course will not be about a gifted hero who has everything figured out telling everyone else what they need to do. Instead, it will be a small band of humble, courageous folks studying Scripture, practising, and seeking to become more like Jesus.
Maybe I’ll call the course, Healing the Sick for the Non-Gifted.
